Cape Agulhas Classic MTB
Cape Agulhas Classic MTB - this is Africa's Southernmost Mountain Bike Race. The Cape Agulhas Classic MTB race has become one of the highlights of the Struisbaai and Agulhas summer holiday calendar. It is not hard to see why this race is on the "must do again" list of many of the previous years' race participants, and of course should be on your bucket list if you haven't done it yet!
Had a lekker ride again this year! Fantastic route with unique riding opportunit
ies. Something special! I am getting better at riding the sandy bits. Not much climbing but varying riding surface made for a strenuous workout. Erhard Eh Wolf
On December 29th, you can participate once again in the Cape Agulhas Classic MTB. The race was designed to test your skills and stamina, while simultaneously rewarding you with spectacular ocean and mountain views of the Cape Agulhas region.
Africa’s southern-most mountain bike race takes its name from its location: Cape Agulhas is the official meeting point of the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. An area renowned for its wealth of fynbos species, pristine beaches, and rolling ocean currents, beneath which lie the wrecks of countless ships, it’s an idyllic holiday and residential destination just two hour’s drive from Cape Town.
For the MTB you will have four distances on offer with the routes crossing various terrains of tar, beach and off-road trails (72km, 46km, 35km and 10km). What a fabulous time of fun for the whole family to enjoy during the holiday season!
The main mountain bike race on Friday morning is 72km, testing the skill and stamina of the rider. Then there is the scenic 46km route and the slightly downscaled 35km ride, as well as a 10km event to enjoy at your leisure.
